From Broadway and Bankstown to Penrith and beyond, the AUSVM Design team loves travelling all over the country to work with clients and recently, we’ve just completed our first round of installations with Caneland Central Shopping Centre up in sunny Mackay, Queensland.
The marketing campaign for Caneland for autumn/winter this year is focused around the theme ‘Like No Other’ and that’s exactly what the team wanted from us – creative installations that go beyond simply dressing mannequins in pretty clothes.
Our client had a vision of creating a stylish ‘catwalk’ feel to the installations, without the actual use of a catwalk! So we decided to create the illusion of a catwalk by lining up our mannequins on their plinths in a row, which gave it that same vibe.
And to really amp up the wow factor, we went that extra mile and custom-designed patterned flooring, which was placed under each of the plinths that the mannequins were placed upon. Bold, geometric prints are on-trend right now and we chose the mustard and chocolate colour palette for the designs, as a modern, fresh take on autumn/winter.
Beautiful Queensland doesn’t experience the same kind of chilly winter like Sydney and Melbourne, so we were also mindful of styling our mannequins to accurately reflect the season. Instead of piling on the scarves, beanies, gloves and knee-high boots on our mannequins, we chose to dress them in light layers, like long sleeved blouses paired with knee-length skirts and knit jumpers with shorts.
We’ll be doing our next install at Caneland over the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to collaborate with our new client again. Watch this space!
